🍇A Review of Tuscany🍇
Let me start off by saying that Viticulture, the base game has been one of my favorite games for a while. It started to become stale because the only real way to get points was to race and sell as much wine as possible. With Tuscany that changes.
The perception of how many modules Tuscany adds varies by person. To me, there are four. It adds specialized workers, new building cards, a new board with different worker placement spots/turn order and an area control map.
My favorite new module by far is the new building cards. You are able to build mini engines to generate points, this is exactly what I wanted from this expansion. If you get the right cards early enough, you can completely ignore making wine and do your own thing to score points.
The new specialized workers allow you to randomly select two of the many included specialized workers to hire. I highly enjoy the mafioso, which lets you repeat an action.
The new board is great too, I will never use the Viticulture board again (but of course I can’t bring myself to throw it away). The new board offers actions for each season and a turn order track that gives bonuses almost every season, depending on where you choose to go.
The module I wasn’t crazy about was the area control map in the bottom left. I feel like it’s just a little too much and didn’t find myself going there. Maybe that changes in higher player counts, but I’ve just played at 1-2. The bonuses weren’t especially appealing, but it does offer another way to get building cards.
At the end of the day this is an expansion that adds modules to a great game. I bought Tuscany for 20 dollars and it did what I was hoping for with just the new building cards. Everything else including the custom meeples is just a bonus.
I highly recommend Tuscany even if you haven’t played Viticulture. Buy them both and add one module from Tuscany in at a time. ...

ESSEN 2018 HOTNESS!
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
With only a couple of days to go until Essen Spiel 2018 I thought I would share the games I am most excited about!
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Unfortunately I can’t make it this year 😟 but I hope to be able to play these over the next couple of months! 😀
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Q. What’s your #1 game you are looking forward to at Essen?
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
🐟 Another deck of cards for our hit from last year for Nusfjord is great news! And metal coins!
🍏 Newton has been getting a lot of love since Gencon and looks like an interesting deck building game...love the theme too!
🌄 Teotihuacan: City of Gods has me proper hyped. I’ve already pre-ordered this. Theme, & mechanics all tick the box!
🏞 The River. Saw this at the recent London Tabletop Gaming Live and really enjoyed it. It’s a @daysofwonder game as well so top notch production.
🛤 Railroad Ink is a roll & write and I ❤️ these games. Two versions available (Red / Blue)..need to decide which to get.
🛶 Key Flow is a card re-implementation of one of our favourite Keyflower. I love the designers and will be an instant addition to the collectionx.
🏰 Architect of the West Kingdom. A stand-alone game by the same designer as Raiders of the North Sea. I backed on KS and super hyped to play this.
⛩ Gùgōng Need to learn more about this one but it has my interest from the art and mechanics.
🥕 Reykholt is a Uwe Rosenberg game and will certainly get a play. Hopefully as good a Nusfjord!
